I want Fldigi to be able to log to MacLoggerDX seamlessly and I don’t want to have to start an extra script for that to happen or to have to interven in anyway. Set it up this way and you’ll kill two birds with one stone. Another alternative may be to use FLrig, but that’s for another article. You can choose to use RigCAT or Hamlib and this time I am trying out Ham Web, because it seems to have better control over the radio.

The Icom RS-R8600 IP Remote Control Software allows you to use an Icom compatible radio installed in another room using your home network or even from a remote location over the Internet. The other cable is a USB cable and I am using it with MacLoggerDX for rig control. Hamlib is a software library to support ham radio rig control begun in 2000, supporting many radio types and computer platforms. This cable is connected and I am using it with FLDGI. for a CW or an Icom CI-V device a USB port for radio control and digital mode. There are not any extra settings in the MacLoggerDX configuration for this to work because I am using a second cable, which is the CI-V cable, and it plugs into the remote port on the back of the Icom radios. DATA OFF MOD and “Unlink from REMOTE” are both necessary. You can disable CAT PTT in fldigi Rig control, if you activate Data VOX in. If you’re using an Icom radio the first thing that you need to have set up is the radio. Check your radio manual to be sure you get the right one for your radio. Some Icom radios require a 'stereo' 3.5mm phone plug. Note that this cable will work with my IC-735, because it has a 'mono' 3.5mm phone plug at the end.
